New Children’s Hospital Utility Tunnel Enabling Works

The new children’s hospital is the largest, most complex and significant capital investment project ever undertaken in healthcare in Ireland. It will bring the three existing children’s hospitals (Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital, and the National Children’s Hospital at Tallaght Hospital) together into one entity on one campus, tri-located with St James’s Hospital and a planned maternity hospital.

This project consisted of installing 500 metres of new Oxygen, 108mm pipeline from the new VIE location beside St James’ Energy Centre, to existing tie in point in St James’ Hospital to facilitate the new Oxygen supply to the New Children’s Hospital. We also installed new Surgical Air 7 and new Nitrous Oxide pipelines to facilitate the removal of all existing services from the tunnel.
